Man’s station rises through his knowledge.

The definition of man in philosophy, a Karagoz-and-Hajivat definition:

“Thinking is the factor that distinguishes man from animals, it is a human excellence.” Man, through thinking, finds himself and his way, detects mistakes and protects himself from evils. Thus, thinking for man, acts like the steering wheel of a car. A man who does not think is like a car with no control. At any moment, he can get into a trouble or have an accident.

Given all this, mankind is afraid to think. A man who is afraid of thinking can suffer a terrible calamity or punishment at any time.

This is one example (related by Turkish newspapers a year ago): Those brutalized animals who walked into a wedding and shot dead 45 innocent people; if they had thought about it, they would not have done it!

Here is a second example (also related by Turkish newspapers, a few months ago): If the superior officer who gave his subordinate a primed bomb, ready to explode, had thought a little, those innocent soldiers would not have died.

These are the evils brought about by modern living. Modern life does not allow space for thinking or consideration. Following instructions or orders is everything. In modern life absolute obedience to superiors is everything.

These people, however, have no place for care or respect in front of their Creator!

This is the mirror of modern life.
