Born in Balkh Mevlana Jalaluddin Rumi learned from his father, a great scholar of his time. The family left Balkh when it became unsafe and after years of travel settled in Konya. Mevlana became a revered scholar himself, taking over his father’s teaching duties. However he still yearned for knowledge. This was to be granted upon encountering Shams of Tabriz.

Satisfied people have the love of Allah in their heart: food for the soul, a grant from Him. People who want to know Him leave everything. If Allah grants wealth, be thankful, share His favour. If poor, be patient, teach yourself to be satisfied and not be envious. Both will be rewarded.
